What is the DS-2019 form?

You will need a DS-2019 to enter the United States, so make sure you know all about it!

One of the things that you cannot go without during  the J-1 Visa application process is the Form DS-2019. Otherwise known as the “Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) Status,” it is the primary document that allows you to enter the United States, and remain in in the country during your program. Additionally, you will need this form when you attend the US Embassy to apply for your Visa.

The Form DS-2019 contains vital information about the program you will be entering. It provides information about you, your sponsor, as well as pertinent details about the exchange program. Aside from the nature of the job you will be doing during your internship, it also provides the starting and ending date of the program and an approximation of the expenses related to the program.

Your personal Form DS-2019, will be shipped to you by your Sponsor. You will then have to bring this with you to the embassy during your interview. Of course, Placement International will provide you with tips and assistance, but this is not an assurance that you will receive a J-1 Visa. This is entirely dependent on the decision of the officers who examine your documents. You will do well to prepare yourself for your interview by reviewing all the information provided by Placement International and following the guidelines, aside from bringing a complete set of accomplished documents.

If you need more information about your form or about anything related to the program you intend to enter, simply ask your VISA Specialist. By doing so, you will definitely feel prepared to embark on the next big step towards a great career and personal development!
